Join our effort to protect the Spokane River! Come learn how to help us monitor water quality in the Spokane River and Hangman Creek by volunteering for our community science project.
Every year, Hangman Creek pollutes the Spokane River with sediment, leading to dirty water contaminating prime trout habitat. Volunteer scientists will measure water clarity throughout the winter and spring of 2024, and the results will be submitted to the Washington State Department of Ecology.
When: December 11th, 7pm
Where: Virtual
What: Waterkeeper Jule Schultz will train volunteers on the basic water quality monitoring needed for the study. We have two trainings available.
This training is required to participate in our Community Science Sediment Study. For the study, volunteers collect water samples from 4 locations, and submit a photo from a 5th location. Each sampling run is a loop approximately 9 miles in West Spokane.
